How do I know whether the artwork will fit into my home?
I’m happy to help you sort this out. It’s usually a matter of providing me with measurements and a photo of the space(s) where you’re considering displaying the artwork.
How do I care for the artwork?
Rule of thumb: Keep drawings and paintings away from direct sunlight, damp places (such as bathrooms) and smoke (such as above working fireplaces). Avoid sharp changes in temperature and humidity. If you have other questions, please check with a painting conservationist; museums may also be helpful.
What about framing?
The artwork is shipped unframed unless we make other arrangements. We recommend framing with a reputable framer in order to protect the artwork.
I’m happy to recommend someone in my area, and in some cases I can meet with both you and the framer either in person or via video conference, if that is helpful.
How long does it take to create my paintings?
It depends on a number of factors, such as when I feel it’s ready. Whether the finished piece comes slowly or quickly is neither a positive nor a negative, and isn’t reflected in the cost. Usually there are multiple layers. One description of a process I often follow is outlined here. Just for fun you might enjoy reading A Giacometti Portrait, by James Lord. It is an interesting commentary about how one painter nearly drove his client nuts. I try very hard not to do that.
What if I have a question not listed here?
Feel free to put it into the contact form here. Either I or my business manager will do our best to respond. If a question comes up a lot, the answer will likely be added to this FAQ section.
